Max Holloway Confident in Defending BMF Title at UFC White House Event

Max Holloway is optimistic about participating in next year’s UFC White House card, but is also considering a potential rematch with Charles Oliveira, weighing the challenges of waiting for the event and the limited audience capacity.

Max Holloway is optimistic about fighting at next year’s UFC White House card. This unique event was announced by UFC CEO Dana White and President Donald Trump to celebrate the USA’s 250th anniversary with a fight on the White House lawn.

Many fighters are eager to join, including Jon Jones and Conor McGregor. Holloway, holding the “BMF” title, believes he has a solid chance too.

In a chat with Korean Zombie’s YouTube channel, Holloway expressed his thoughts. He noted the lack of American champions, except for himself with the “BMF” title, boosting his confidence in being selected.

However, Holloway isn’t the only American champion. Kayla Harrison and Mackenzie Dern also hold titles, adding complexity to the selection process.

The “BMF” title, won from Dustin Poirier, may not influence the card’s lineup. Dana White hinted the event won’t be an “America vs. the world” theme, leaving Holloway uncertain about his participation.

Holloway has mixed feelings about the event’s setup. With only 5,000 people allowed on the lawn, he worries his family might miss out on attending, which dampens his enthusiasm.

Timing is another concern. Holloway hasn’t fought since UFC 318 and is reluctant to wait a whole year for the White House card.

He hopes to recover from his injury and fight early next year, possibly in March or April. Waiting until June feels too long for him.

While uncertain about the timing, Holloway seems confident about his next opponent—Charles Oliveira. The two have history, having fought in 2015, where Holloway emerged victorious.

Fans speculate a rematch, especially after Oliveira’s recent callout. Holloway is open to it, seeing it as a chance to settle past scores and possibly defend his “BMF” title.

Holloway acknowledges their shared history and Oliveira’s desire to redeem his last fight against Ilia Topuria. Both fighters aim to climb the division, making a rematch enticing.
