Maycee Barber withdrew from the UFC Vegas 107 main event due to a late medical issue, prompting criticism from Erin Blanchfield, to which Barber responded by apologizing and denying her life is “messy.”
Maycee Barber has finally spoken up after her unexpected withdrawal from the UFC Vegas 107 main event. She was set to face Erin Blanchfield in the Saturday Fight Night headliner at the UFC APEX.
As the promo video wrapped up, fans anticipated Barber’s entrance. But instead, commentators Brendan Fitzgerald, Daniel Cormier, and Laura Sanko announced she turned back to the locker room.
After a commercial break, Fitzgerald explained that a last-minute “medical issue” had removed Barber from the fight. This prompted Blanchfield to criticize Barber, calling her “a complete mess in every aspect of her entire life.”
On Sunday, Barber took to Instagram to address the situation. She didn’t provide specifics about her medical clearance but responded to Blanchfield’s harsh words.
“Not what I had planned for a Sunday post,” Barber wrote. “Thanks to everyone for the prayers and support. I owe an apology to UFC, Mick Maynard, Dana White, Sean Shelby, and Erin Blanchfield.”
She added, “P.S.: My life is not messy; this is just a bad hand. We will get to the bottom of it all and be back.”
Barber’s “messy” comment directly countered Blanchfield’s criticism. It followed the fight’s cancellation and Blanchfield’s harsh words about the 27-year-old flyweight.
Barber was returning after 14 months, following health issues that hospitalized her post-UFC 299 win over Katlyn Cerminara. “The Future” shared with MMA Fighting that doctors hadn’t provided clear answers about her condition.
