Miranda Maverick suffered a torn ACL during her loss to Rose Namajunas at UFC Atlanta, ending her four-fight win streak.
Miranda Maverick faced a tough challenge against former UFC champ Rose Namajunas, suffering a serious injury in the process. The bout took place at UFC Atlanta, where Maverick’s four-fight win streak came to an end with a unanimous decision loss.
In the third round, Namajunas landed a left hook that seemed to drop Maverick. However, a leg injury played a significant role, as later reviews suggested.
After the fight, Maverick opened up about her injury, revealing an ACL tear occurred even before that third-round moment. She shared her thoughts on Instagram, saying, “Not the result I wanted but I fought with what I had.”
Maverick explained her ACL was torn during the second round, likely during a takedown exchange. “I never got dropped, but I was unstable on my legs,” she noted. When hit in the third, her leg gave out.
Despite the setback, she expressed gratitude for sharing the cage with Namajunas and vowed to return stronger. “I’ll take this layoff in stride and you will see me again!” she promised, focusing now on recovery.
Maverick’s UFC record now stands at 8-4, with all losses against top-10 flyweights. Previously, she secured a unanimous decision win over Jamey-Lyn Horth at UFC Tampa.
Meanwhile, Namajunas improved her flyweight record to 3-2, bouncing back after a close loss to Erin Blanchfield at UFC Edmonton. This victory marked her return to the win column.
