Movsar Evloev Teases Return, Thanks Volkanovski for Fight Push

Movsar Evloev needs at least one more win before a title shot, despite his undefeated record and interest from champion Alexander Volkanovski, as he prepares to fight in July while Volkanovski plans to return in September.

Movsar Evloev needs another win before eyeing a title shot. The undefeated Russian recently beat Aljamain Sterling at UFC 310. He took to social media to express gratitude to Alexander Volkanovski, the reigning featherweight champion, for considering a fight with him.

Volkanovski, after reclaiming the 145-pound belt, mentioned that facing Evloev would benefit his legacy. However, it seems the UFC has different plans. Evloev tweeted, “Alexander Volkanovski, thank you champ for trying to fight me. I will fight in July and you fight in September, hopefully, we both win and we can meet in December.”

Evloev has been vocal about his desire for a title shot, especially after Diego Lopes was given a chance against Volkanovski. This followed Ilia Topuria‘s exit from the division. Evloev had previously defeated Lopes in a Fight of the Night performance back in 2023.

Despite his impressive 19-0 record, Evloev isn’t next in line for the champion. He plans to compete at the UFC’s upcoming event in Abu Dhabi on July 26 at Etihad Arena. “If you’re a UFC fighter and believe you’re the best, you fight every fight they throw at you,” Evloev stated. “See you guys in July, it’s ON.”

The UFC hasn’t officially announced Evloev’s next fight yet. Sources suggest July is the targeted date for his return. There were talks of a potential matchup with former Bellator fighter Aaron Pico, who recently joined the UFC. But nothing’s confirmed.

For now, Evloev seems resigned to needing at least one more win before a title shot. Meanwhile, Volkanovski is gearing up for his next challenge later this year.
