Nate Diaz expressed confidence in defeating former UFC champion Belal Muhammad, prompting Muhammad to respond with a snarky remark on social media.
Nate Diaz doesn’t seem too impressed with former UFC champ Belal Muhammad’s skills. Or maybe he’s just super confident in his own abilities. Not shocking for anyone who’s followed Stockton’s favorite son.
Diaz recently dropped a travel vlog. It covers his trip to Thailand and Hong Kong. A planned reality show with UFC heavyweight champ Jon Jones went sideways, but he still caught some UFC action at a bar.
He watched the UFC 315 main event: Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena. Della Maddalena snagged a decision win, taking Muhammad’s welterweight title.
During the fight, Diaz made his thoughts clear. “I’ll fight Belal’s ass,” he said. Later adding, “I think I’d beat the shit out of Belal Muhammad.”
Classic Diaz, right? At 40, he hasn’t fought in MMA since 2022 but ended his UFC run by submitting Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. He’s dabbled in boxing since, losing to Jake Paul but bouncing back with a win over Jorge Masvidal.
For Muhammad, that loss was a big deal. It snapped a six-year unbeaten streak, which included a big win over Leon Edwards to become UFC champ.
Muhammad didn’t take Diaz’s comments lying down. He clapped back on social media.
“Must be on the same coke as Conor,” he tweeted. Ouch.
Meanwhile, Della Maddalena is gearing up to defend his belt. He’s facing Muhammad’s buddy, Islam Makhachev, who moved up a division. Their fight’s set for late 2025.
Diaz, though, didn’t even recognize Della Maddalena before UFC 315. “I don’t know the other guy,” he admitted. Classic.
