Nate Diaz Criticizes Dustin Poirier Before UFC 318 Finale

Nate Diaz humorously comments on Dustin Poirier‘s career as Poirier prepares for his retirement fight against Max Holloway at UFC 318, a matchup with Diaz never materializing.

Nate Diaz isn’t exactly sending Dustin Poirier into retirement with a gentle pat on the back. Nope.

This Saturday, Poirier’s making his final walk to the UFC octagon. It’s a big deal—he’s facing Max Holloway for the BMF title at UFC 318. And guess what? It’s all happening in front of his home crowd at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. Talk about a hometown hero moment.

Remember when Diaz and Poirier were supposed to throw down at UFC 230 back in 2018? Yeah, that didn’t happen. Poirier had to pull out due to a hip injury. Classic Diaz, though, couldn’t resist giving his two cents on Poirier’s career as it wraps up.

“How about when DP pulled out of fight with me to get p*ssy surgery,” Diaz tweeted. Subtle, right?

Poirier bounced back the following April at UFC 236. He snagged the interim lightweight title with a decision win over Holloway. Sweet revenge, if you ask me.

Ever since their fight fell through, Poirier’s been holding onto hope for a bout with Diaz. He mentioned it in a bunch of interviews. But now, it looks like that showdown will remain a “what if” as Poirier wraps up his career with this trilogy bout against Holloway.
