Pros Criticize Devin Haney’s Boring Win at Times Square Show

Devin Haney won a lackluster unanimous decision against Jose Ramirez, but his performance was widely criticized for its inactivity and lack of engagement, leading to negative reactions on social media.

Devin Haney returned to the ring, winning, yet leaving his reputation a bit bruised. His unanimous decision victory came after 12 uneventful rounds at Times Square, New York.

Since his controversial April 2024 fight with Ryan Garcia, fans had hoped for redemption. However, Haney’s performance was less than stellar, with him mostly circling the ring. His opponent, Jose Ramirez, was even less effective, resulting in scores of 119-109 and 118-110.

This wasn’t the comeback Haney’s fans anticipated. After his first loss to Garcia, later overturned due to a failed drug test, expectations were high. But, a year later, excitement fizzled.

Online reactions were harsh. Fighters criticized Haney’s showing, joking they should be paid for watching. Check out some of the best social media reactions below.

Billy Quarantillo quipped, “They should be paying me to watch this boxing match.” Another tweet read, “How does Devin Haney have 0 losses?”

Terrance McKinney joked about a race between Haney and Stevenson, while also admitting relief when his stream crashed. Meanwhile, Josh Thomson encouraged viewers to “hang in there” as the fight dragged on.

Sergio Pettis noted, “These commentators are talking mad shit about Haney.” The online chatter was relentless.
