The fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Vicente Luque has been postponed, with a women’s bantamweight fight between Holly Holm and Mayra Bueno Silva taking its place as the main event.
The anticipated fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Vicente Luque has been rescheduled for August 12, rather than the initial July 15 date. The match was originally set to headline a UFC event in Las Vegas. Although there has been no official word on what caused the delay, sources familiar with the promotion’s plans have confirmed the change. It is expected that the dos Anjos vs. Luque bout will still be a five-round main event in August.
This upcoming match will mark dos Anjos’ second stint at welterweight, following his victory over Bryan Barberena this past December. Meanwhile, Luque is endeavoring to bounce back after consecutive losses in his past two fights against Geoff Neal and Belal Muhammad. As a result of the dos Anjos vs. Luque delay, the UFC has rearranged its schedule, now featuring a women’s bantamweight fight between Holly Holm and Mayra Bueno Silva as the main event on July 15.
Although the Holm vs. Silva fight has verbal agreements in place, no contracts have been issued or signed at this time. The July 15 event, where this matchup is set to take place, will be held at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. This occurs just one week after UFC 290, which is headlining International Fight Week 2023.
