A bantamweight fight between Raquel Pennington and Norma Dumont is planned for Noche UFC 3 in San Antonio on Sept. 13, with both fighters aiming for title contention, although contracts are not yet signed.
A bantamweight showdown is brewing. Former champ Raquel Pennington is set to face Norma Dumont at Noche UFC 3 in San Antonio on Sept. 13.
Sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting after AG Fight’s initial report. While the date and location are targeted, contracts haven’t been signed yet.
If finalized, this will be Pennington’s first fight since a controversial loss to Julianna Pena. That defeat cost her the UFC women’s bantamweight title. Before that, she was on a six-fight win streak, defeating names like Mayra Bueno Silva, Ketlen Vieira, and Macy Chiasson.
Pennington’s aiming to leap back into title contention. Her expected opponent, Dumont, is no pushover.
Dumont is riding a five-fight win streak. She’s steadily climbed the ranks, taking down fighters like Irene Aldana, Karol Rosa, and former champ Germaine de Randamie. Her record? 8-1 in her last nine fights, with her only loss a split decision to Chiasson in 2022.
If Dumont beats Pennington, she could become the No. 1 contender. With Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes expected to clash next, the division’s heating up.
The bantamweights are part of an exciting lineup in Texas for Noche UFC 3. The main event features featherweight title challenger Diego Lopes against Jean Silva. Can’t wait!
