Raul Rosas Jr. Hails Meeting His Childhood Idol Rey Mysterio as a True Blessing

Bantamweight fighter Raul Rosas Jr. met with wrestling legend Rey Mysterio at Noche UFC, discussing his admiration for Mysterio, his recent TKO victory, and his aspiration to become the youngest UFC champion, a goal recognized by big industry names like Conor McGregor.

Raul Rosas Jr., an 18-year-old bantamweight, had the pleasure of meeting WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio during Noche UFC earlier this month. Rosas happened upon Mysterio — who is also famously recognized as the nephew of professional wrestler Rey Misterio Sr. — and a picture was captured of the two together, which Mysterio later shared on social media. In his post, Mysterio congratulated the young fighter on his success.

During that same week, Rosas achieved an impressive 54-second TKO victory against Terrence Mitchell, thus improving his professional record since debuting in 2021 to an outstanding 8-1. This triumph has garnered recognition from significant figures in the sporting industry, including Conor McGregor. When asked about this recognition in a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, Rosas shared his dream for UFC and his feelings upon meeting Mysterio. This meeting held great importance for Rosas since, as he mentioned, he and his brother had admired Mysterio since their childhood, and they used to receive his wrestling gear from their grandmother as gifts.

Rosas further expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has encountered and for the benefits that the sport has brought upon him. He stated his unwavering focus on his journey and showed humility by acknowledging these additional rewards, such as appearing in a video game and meeting Mysterio, as blessings. Additionally, Rosas has shared that he aspires to become the youngest UFC champion in history, a record currently held by Jon Jones at 23 years and 242 days. He also desires to become a superstar for the promotion, a goal he seems to be on track to accomplishing given that several big names in the industry, such as McGregor himself, already have their eyes on him.

During the Noche UFC event, which was intentionally synchronized with Mexican Independence Day festivities, Rosas proved victorious. His achievement, coupled with the support from an especially noisy Mexican crowd, made his speedy finish an even more special experience. However, when asked about his favorite moment of the emotional week, Rosas stated without hesitation that his performance took the top spot. He expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the hard work he had put in — a fulfilling pay-off that he described as simply “amazing”.
