Rose Namajunas Surgery After UFC 324 Eye Injury

Rose Namajunas is undergoing surgery to repair eye damage from her UFC 324 fight against Natalia Silva, requiring about three months of recovery.

Rose Namajunas is heading into surgery this Tuesday. The procedure aims to fix injuries from her recent fight against Natalia Silva at UFC 324.

During the match, Namajunas suffered several eye pokes. Despite a razor-close decision that many thought she won, she left with a loss on her record.

“I’m headed into surgery,” Namajunas shared on Instagram. “Canalicular tube surgery. I got poked in the eye a few times. My tube is torn, so it’s being repaired now. Pray for me, guys.”

Canalicular trauma involves a tear in the eye’s drainage system. Silicone tubes are used to restore tear drainage and help the healing process.

These stents usually stay in place for up to 10 months, but Namajunas expects a three-month recovery. So, she might be back sooner than later.

The loss to Silva has impacted Namajunas’ recent fight record, dropping her to 3-2 in her last five bouts. Silva, meanwhile, is now eyeing a match with UFC flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko.

Namajunas, a former 115-pound stalwart, moved to flyweight in 2023. She’s had mixed results, with wins over Tracy Cortez and Miranda Maverick but losses to top contenders like Erin Blanchfield.

With her surgery timeline, Namajunas is likely to compete again before the end of 2026. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!
