Ryan Garcia has challenged Jake Paul to a boxing match, expressing his frustration on social media after Paul’s first-round knockout victory over Ryan Bourland.
Ryan Garcia’s had it with Jake Paul. He’s throwing down the gauntlet.
Saturday night, Garcia was fuming. He took to social media, challenging Paul to a fight. This came hot on the heels of Paul’s first-round knockout win over Ryan Bourland in Puerto Rico.
Garcia’s message was clear. “Okay enough, it’s on I’m going to have to do this! I’m going to end this JAKE PAUL BOXING THING. BRING IT ON JAKE IM DEAD F****** SERIOUS F*** YOU! HIT MY TEAM UP,” he posted.
In a follow-up voice message, Garcia’s frustration was palpable. “I can’t do this s***,” he said. “I feel so f****** bad for introducing Jake Paul to boxing. I f***** up. I can’t allow this to happen. I can’t. I can’t. He’s disrespecting my sport. He’s disrespecting everything. I just, I don’t know — call my team, Jake. F*** you.”
Garcia’s got a record of 24-1, with 20 KOs. He’s a former WBC interim lightweight champ. He’s set to face Devin Haney in a huge fight for the WBC super lightweight title on April 20.
Garcia’s smaller than Paul. His fight with Haney is at 140 pounds, while Paul’s win over Bourland was at 200 pounds. But Garcia would be the most experienced boxing opponent Paul has faced.
Paul’s record is 9-1, with 6 KOs. He demolished Bourland on Saturday, ending the fight with a flurry of punches in the first round. This was Paul’s second straight win over an opponent with notable boxing experience. He knocked out Andre August in the first round in December. After the fight, Paul said he wants to keep testing himself against opponents with more boxing experience.
So, could Garcia vs. Paul be a real possibility next?
