Sean Brady aims to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov at Madison Square Garden on the same card as the UFC welterweight title fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev, positioning it as a true No. 1 contender’s match.
Sean Brady’s got his sights set on the UFC welterweight title, and he’s not holding back. With current champ Jack Della Maddalena set to face Islam Makhachev, Brady’s eager to be on that same card. Especially if it all goes down at Madison Square Garden. Iconic, right?
His target? The undefeated Shavkat Rakhmonov. Brady heard through the grapevine that Rakhmonov might return in November or December. Perfect timing for a showdown at MSG. "That’s a true No. 1 contender’s fight," Brady declared on The BradyBagz Show. He’s reaching out to make it happen.
Brady’s on a roll with a three-fight win streak, including a dominant submission over Leon Edwards. He’s 18-1, with his only loss to Belal Muhammad last year. But finding his next opponent? That’s been a headache.
"I’ve been trying to fight since my last match," Brady said. He was ready to face Ian Machado Garry in Chicago, but radio silence followed. Now, he’s eyeing cards in Las Vegas or Vancouver. Still waiting on that call.
A win against Rakhmonov could cement Brady’s title shot. Rakhmonov was set to challenge Muhammad before an injury changed plans. Other contenders? Kamaru Usman or a Muhammad rematch, but those might be off the table.
Brady’s frustrated. "I was No. 1, now I’m No. 2," he lamented. Ian Garry’s not biting, and with Usman and Belal likely facing off, options are slim. But there’s one name that gets him fired up: Colby Covington.
"If I can’t get a top 5 guy, I’d love to beat Colby Covington’s ass," Brady added. He’s not a fan of Covington’s antics and wouldn’t mind settling that score. "I don’t like Colby, so I’ll beat up Colby." Sounds like a plan.
