UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has publicly invited Ian Machado Garry to settle their ongoing feud in person, following a series of online disputes and rumors about Garry’s personal life.
Sean Strickland and Ian Machado Garry are at odds, and it’s not a secret. Strickland’s open to squashing the beef in person if it comes to that.
The two UFC stars have been at each other’s throats publicly. Strickland’s been spreading rumors about Machado Garry, his wife, and manager, Layla Machado Garry. He even shared a direct message from Ian threatening to sue him for harassment and defamation. This only fueled Strickland’s fire.
There’s a video on Instagram, posted by the UFC middleweight champion himself. In it, he and Machado Garry are at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas. The encounter was tense, to say the least.
Strickland, in the video, says, “I went to the P.I. today and I ran into the f****** cuck Ian Garry.” He describes the encounter as awkward, with security having to step in. He also adds that he doesn’t hate Garry. In fact, he finds him amusing.
The Machado Garrys have denied the rumors, which originated from social media gossip. The rumors suggested that Ian took the name of Layla’s ex-husband (Machado is actually her maiden name). They also suggested that her ex-husband is currently living with them. Layla, about an 11-page book she wrote in 2010, claims it’s a satirical work. The book details how to find a famous athlete husband to marry.
Strickland, however, isn’t backing down. He’s continued to pile on, even referring to Layla as a “sexual predator” in one tweet. He insists that something’s off about the relationship.
Strickland, in his own words, thinks Ian is a “dumbass f****** kid” who got involved with a woman too good for him. He doesn’t want to fight Ian but is willing to if Ian insists. He’s even invited Ian to slide into his DMs if he wants to settle things.
On a professional note, Strickland recently won the UFC middleweight title with a dominant decision win over Israel Adesanya. He’s already set for his first defense, which is the main event of UFC 297 in Toronto against Dricus Du Plessis.
Machado Garry, on the other hand, is 6-0 in the UFC so far. He’s set to meet Vicente Luque next Saturday in the main card opener of UFC 296.
