Tatsuro Taira Faces Undefeated Prospect in UFC Vegas 108 Main Event

UFC Vegas 108’s main event has changed to Hyun Sung Park vs. Tatsuro Taira after Amir Albazi withdrew, with Park stepping in on short notice to replace him.

UFC Vegas 108 just got a shake-up with a new main event announced only five days before the fight.

Initially, Amir Albazi and Tatsuro Taira were set to clash in a five-round flyweight bout. However, Albazi is now off the card for undisclosed reasons, confirmed by multiple sources to MMA Fighting.

With Albazi out, Taira will now face Hyun Sung Park, an undefeated prospect and Road to UFC winner, in the main event. UFC officials announced this unexpected pairing on Monday.

Park steps in on short notice, bringing a flawless 10-0 record to the octagon. After winning the Road to the UFC flyweight tournament, he secured three consecutive wins, including a first-round submission over Carlos Hernandez in May.

In his UFC tenure, Park has finished all opponents, but this fight marks a significant step up in competition. Originally, he was set to fight former title challenger Steve Erceg in August, but now he faces Taira.

There’s still no update on whether Erceg will remain on the August 9 card or face a new opponent.

For Taira, this fight marks his return since an October 2024 loss to Brandon Royval. That defeat blemished his perfect record, but he’s eager to rebound against Park.

The card also sees Felipe Bunes taking on Rafael Estevam after Andre Lima’s removal. Francis Marshall‘s featherweight bout with Austin Bashi was also scrapped.

Lastly, Torrez Finney withdrew from his matchup against Azamat Bekoev. Bekoev will now face Contender Series veteran Yousri Belgaroui at UFC Vancouver on October 18.
