Tom Aspinall Aims to Be Greatest Heavyweight Champion

Tom Aspinall, after a challenging year of uncertainty, has been promoted to undisputed UFC heavyweight champion following Jon Jones‘ retirement, and he is eager to defend his title actively, aiming to become the best heavyweight ever.

Tom Aspinall’s year has been a rollercoaster, waiting to see if he’d face Jon Jones. Finally, clarity arrived when Jones announced his retirement.

Aspinall had always wanted to fight Jones, but his main focus was staying active and becoming the undisputed champ. With Jones out, Aspinall’s now the sole heavyweight champion and ready to chase big dreams.

Reflecting on the uncertainty, Aspinall admits it was a “bit of a challenging time.” But now? He’s pumped for what’s next.

“I’m going to keep this thing as active as possible,” Aspinall shared on YouTube. “I want to be the best heavyweight ever. I’ll defend this title as much as I can.”

His UFC record? A solid 8-1. That one loss? A knee injury against Curtis Blaydes, which he later avenged with a swift 60-second knockout.

Aspinall’s eight victories mostly ended in the first round, boasting a 100% finishing rate. Impressive, right?

With the Jones saga behind him, Aspinall’s eager to get back in the octagon. He hopes to book his next fight soon.

“I’m going to keep you guys entertained,” he promised. “I really appreciate everyone’s support. Expect an active, defending champion.”

UFC CEO Dana White plans to meet Aspinall in Vegas during International Fight Week to discuss his next opponent.

Top contenders for the title shot? Ciryl Gane and Jailton Almeida are in the mix, but White’s holding off on decisions until he talks with Aspinall.

With the UFC schedule packed through August and no September pay-per-view, Aspinall’s return likely won’t be before October. Exciting times ahead!
