Tom Aspinall believes he is the best MMA heavyweight in the world right now, especially with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou inactive, and he hopes to fight one of the legends and continue his success in the UFC.
Tom Aspinall is confident that he is currently the best MMA heavyweight in the world, especially with Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou inactive. At UFC 295, Aspinall defeated Sergei Pavlovich in just 69 seconds, capturing the interim title in Jones’ absence. Despite the UFC’s indication to preserve Jones vs. Stipe Miocic, Aspinall is pitching for a new matchup against one of the legends.
Aspinall hopes to fight either Jones or Miocic soon and move forward with his career instead of waiting around. He believes that a matchup against one of the legends would be more beneficial for him at this point. He also expressed his desire to sell out a U.K. arena in summer 2024 and is confident that he can do so as the current champion.
Despite Jones’s congratulatory message to Aspinall, the former is rumored to be considering the Miocic bout as his final fight. However, Aspinall hopes to persuade Jones to stick around longer and continue his MMA career. At 30 years old, he is determined to go down as the best heavyweight to ever step foot in the octagon.
