Tyson Fury Claims Francis Ngannou Should Thank Him for His Success

Tyson Fury claims Francis Ngannou owes him for his rise in the boxing world, but remains indifferent to the outcome of the upcoming heavyweight match between Ngannou and Anthony Joshua.

Tyson Fury? He’s not fussed about the outcome of the heavyweight clash between Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou. But he’s pretty sure Ngannou owes him big time after their October boxing match.

This Friday, Joshua and Ngannou are headlining the Knockout Chaos event in Saudi Arabia. Ngannou, the ex-UFC heavyweight champ, is keen to build on his last performance. Remember that one? He lost to Fury in a split decision, even after flooring the champ during the fight.

Fury? He had a few words to say about Ngannou’s boxing career. He basically told the PFL fighter, ‘You’re welcome, mate.’

“Joshua and Ngannou? Good fight,” Fury told The Stomping Ground. “When I fought Ngannou, it was a mismatch. A load of bulls***, really. But hey, that’s how it goes, right? Styles make fights, after all.

“Before our fight, people didn’t expect much from Ngannou. He was like a 1,000 to 1 shot. Everyone thought he was useless, couldn’t fight. But he proved ’em all wrong. Good on him. I put him on the map, made him a multi-millionaire. Now, I’m making him even richer. He should be thanking me. He should be down on his knees, kissing my feet, for what I’ve done for him.”

Fury’s got his own fight coming up. He’s set to face Oleksandr Usyk in a heavyweight championship unification bout in Saudi Arabia in May. It’s one of the most awaited fights in years for the division. The victor of Joshua vs. Ngannou might get a shot at the winner of that mega showdown.

As for a prediction, Fury’s not making any. But he’ll definitely be watching.

“I don’t know, I don’t care, honestly,” Fury said.

“Whatever happens, happens. The best man will win on the night. They’re both heavyweight giants, so anyone could win. Friday’s fights are going to be brilliant. I’m really looking forward to the whole event.”
