UFC 246 Preview & Inside the Octagon Breakdown

UFC Inside the Octagon

The UFC kicks off the 2020 year with the highly anticipated return of The ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor. McGregor and Cerrone will headline the first card of 2020 at UFC 246 on January 18th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Former 2 division champion Conor McGregor (9-2 UFC record) is looking to bounce back from a loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov 15 months ago. The 31-year-old McGregor has vowed to his fans that he is motivated to fight again and will put on a show on January 18th.

Donald Cerrone (23-10 UFC record) is no stranger to the big stage. He holds many UFC  records including most wins in the organization and most finishes (16). ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone will be confident coming into the fight knowing he has all the experience to outduel the precise Irish striker.

Cerrone will enter the fight the bigger man at 6’1 while McGregor is 5’9. Although McGregor gives up a few inches of height, he has a slight reach advantage which could be a difference-maker in the striking duel. Cerrone is much more accomplished on the ground and many tend to believe if the fight goes to the ground he has an advantage. A focused Conor McGregor had fantastic takedown defense and if we see the old McGregor, Cerrone could have a tough time taking this fight to the ground.

Before the 2 men square off in the ring, the UFC will host a press conference on January 15th live from the Pearl Theater. I’m interested to hear how both men see this fight ending.
