UFC Atlanta: Veteran’s New Opponent on Usman vs. Buckley Card

Ricky Simon will fight Cameron Smotherman at UFC Atlanta after Smotherman replaces Charles Jourdain, who withdrew due to an eye injury.

Ricky Simon’s still on the UFC Atlanta card. Yep, he’s set to face Cameron Smotherman on short notice.

Insiders spilled the beans to MMA Fighting, confirming the matchup. Eurosport broke the news first.

Smotherman steps in for Charles Jourdain, who’s out with an eye injury. This marks Smotherman’s second fight in two months—his third in the octagon.

In his debut, Smotherman snagged a unanimous decision win over Jake Hadley. But he dropped his next bout to Serhiy Sidey at UFC Des Moines in May.

Meanwhile, Simon snapped a three-fight losing streak with a surprise submission win over Javid Basharat at UFC Seattle. Now, he’s heading into his 15th octagon appearance, chasing his 10th promotional victory.

UFC Atlanta’s headliner? A must-watch welterweight clash. Former champ Kamaru Usman returns to face the rising Joaquin Buckley. Exciting stuff!
