UFC Des Moines: Double Injury Cancels Light Heavyweight Fight

A double injury has removed the Junior Tafa vs. Tuco Tokkos fight from UFC Des Moines, reducing the event to 12 fights, including the main event between Cory Sandhagen and Deiveson Figueiredo.

A rare twist of fate has hit UFC Des Moines—a double injury! Yep, you heard right. Junior Tafa and Tuco Tokkos are out of this Saturday’s Fight Night card at Wells Fargo Arena. Both fighters are injured, though the details are hush-hush.

So, what’s next? The matchup is likely to be rescheduled once they’re back in fighting shape. Tafa recently broke a losing streak with a TKO win over Sean Sharaf in October. Tokkos, on the other hand, lost a decision to Navajo Stirling at UFC Tampa in December.

Despite this setback, UFC Des Moines still boasts 12 fights. The spotlight’s on the bantamweight main event: Cory Sandhagen vs. Deiveson Figueiredo. Intrigued?

Here’s the updated fight card. Main Card kicks off at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and ESPN+. Sandhagen faces Figueiredo. Reinier de Ridder takes on Bo Nickal. Daniel Rodriguez battles Santiago Ponzinibbio. And more!

Prelims start at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Miesha Tate meets Yana Santos. Ryan Loder clashes with Azamat Bekoev. Marina Rodriguez faces Gillian Robertson. And so it goes.

UFC Des Moines might be a fight short, but it’s still packing a punch. Stay tuned!
