UFC Heavyweight Suspended 30 Months for Testosterone Use Deception

Mohammed Usman received a 30-month suspension for doping after testing positive for testosterone and admitting to using banned substances, with the suspension extended due to deceptive conduct.

Mohammed Usman has been handed a 30-month doping suspension. This came after testing positive for testosterone before his UFC Rio fight with Valter Walker in October 2025, as announced by Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD).

Usman admitted to using testosterone before the Walker fight. He also confessed to using the banned peptide BPC-157 earlier in the year. The sample was collected on September 8, and the results came back just days before UFC Rio, leaving Walker without an opponent.

“While Usman ultimately took responsibility,” CSAD stated. “He did not do so promptly and only after we confronted him with evidence from our investigation.”

CSAD noted that using multiple substances and attempting to deceive them led to “aggravating circumstances.” Hence, they added six months to the usual two-year suspension due to these factors.

Usman, the younger brother of former UFC champ Kamaru Usman, and winner of the 30th season of The Ultimate Fighter, will be 39 when his suspension ends on April 9, 2028. His last fight was in June 2025, where he secured a decision win over Hamdy Abdelwahab, bringing his record to 4-2.
