UFC Mexico City: Pros React to Felipe dos Santos’ Controversial Split Decision Win

Felipe dos Santos’ split decision victory over Victor Altamirano at UFC Mexico City sparked controversy, with the crowd and several UFC fighters expressing their disbelief at the judges’ scoring in favor of dos Santos.

Felipe dos Santos’ first UFC win sure got tongues waggin’. But, not exactly in the way he might’ve wanted, ya know?

He’s a Brazilian flyweight, this guy. Scored a split decision over Victor Altamirano at UFC Mexico City. But the crowd? They weren’t having it.

They were all for Altamirano, a local lad. Loud boos echoed around the arena when the judges’ scores were announced.

Judges Mike Bell and Junichiro Kamijo, they both saw it 29-28 in dos Santos’ favor. They gave Rounds 2 and 3 to him. But then there was Judge Miguel Jimenez. He had a totally different take. Scored all three rounds for Altamirano.

And Jimenez wasn’t alone, mind you. A bunch of UFC fighters took to social media, shocked that Altamirano didn’t get the nod. Cody Durden was one of ’em. Called it a “straight robbery”. Michael Chiesa, he said the decision was “botched”. And Terrance McKinney? He was sure that “Victor won that no problem.”

Check out how the pros reacted to the controversial call below.

Cody Durden tweeted, “I must be tripping but I for sure had Victor controlling the distance, landing 9 takedowns, and getting dominate positions. I guess he didn’t land enough strikes idk.”

And Terrance McKinney? He was like, “Yo wtf ??? Victor won that no problem.”
