Paul Craig is set to face Modestas Bukauskas in a crucial light heavyweight bout at UFC Paris, needing a win after a series of disappointing performances, while Bukauskas aims to extend his three-fight win streak.
Paul Craig is gearing up for a pivotal showdown against Modestas Bukauskas at UFC Paris. This fight could be a turning point in his career.
The UFC announced on Monday that Craig will face Bukauskas in a light heavyweight bout on September 6 at Accor Arena. The event will be headlined by a clash between top middleweight contenders Nassourdine Imavov and Caio Borralho.
Craig, with a record of 17-9-1, 1 NC, is desperate for a win. He’s managed just one victory in his last seven appearances since 2022. Frustration peaked in June when an illegal upkick from Craig led to a controversial no-contest against Rodolfo Bellato.
Bellato faced criticism for allegedly exaggerating the foul. UFC analyst Anthony Smith accused him of “trying to get a cheap win.” Despite this, Craig remains winless in his last four fights.
The Scotsman has impressive victories under his belt, including finishes of future light heavyweight champions Magomed Ankalaev and Jamahal Hill, and UFC Hall of Famer Mauricio Rua. Yet, his UFC record stands at an even 9-9-1 (1 NC).
On the flip side, Bukauskas is riding high with a three-fight win streak. With a record of 18-6, the two-time Cage Warriors champion is 5-1 in his second UFC stint. A win here could catapult him into the title contender conversation.
Pressure’s on both fighters, but the stakes might just be higher for Craig. Can he turn things around? We’ll find out soon enough.
