UFC Releases Ranked Heavyweight After Abu Dhabi Win

Ranked heavyweight Martin Buday is no longer with the UFC after his contract ended following a decision win at UFC Abu Dhabi, despite a 7-1 record and recent victories.

A ranked heavyweight has just exited the UFC roster. Yep, you heard right.

Sources close to the promotion confirmed that Martin Buday is no longer with the UFC. After his decision win over Marcus Buchecha at UFC Abu Dhabi, the promotion decided not to renew his contract. That was his last fight under the current deal.

Buday had a solid run, going 7-1 in the UFC. His only loss? A TKO to Shamil Gaziev at UFC 296 in December 2023. But he bounced back, winning his last three fights, including victories over Andrei Arlovski and Uran Satybaldiev. Not too shabby, huh?

Exiting as the No. 12 ranked heavyweight, Buday made quite the mark. He also snagged wins against fan-favorite Chris Barnett and submitted Josh Parisian in the first round back in August 2023.

Before the UFC, Buday held the OKTAGON heavyweight title. Quite the journey for the 33-year-old.
