The UFC’s upcoming Fight Night event in Rio de Janeiro will feature a match between Vitor Petrino and Thomas Petersen on October 11, with both fighters eager to continue their momentum in the heavyweight division.
UFC’s upcoming Fight Night in Rio de Janeiro just got more exciting. Vitor Petrino is set to face Thomas Petersen on October 11th. This matchup adds to the card, joining Jhonata Diniz vs. Mario Pinto. Yet, the headliner remains a mystery.
Petersen, with a record of 10-3, is no stranger to the spotlight. A former LFA heavyweight champ, he earned his UFC spot by submitting Chandler Cole on Dana White’s Contender Series. Despite his high finishing rate, his UFC wins have been decision victories over Mohammed Usman and Don’Tale Mayes.
On the flip side, Petrino boasts a 12-2 record. He recently dispatched Austen Lane with a first-round choke in Nashville, bouncing back from losses at 205 pounds. His UFC journey now stands at 5-2.
After his Nashville triumph, Petrino expressed eagerness to stay active. No more weight cuts to light heavyweight for him! He’s ready to jump back into the octagon at a moment’s notice.
“This is my eighth fight in less than three years,” Petrino shared, chuckling about his readiness. “If a fight shows up tomorrow, I’m in. Heavyweights get called up anytime, and I’m all for it.” He aims for one or two more bouts this year.
So, the anticipation builds. Who will headline? Only time will tell.
