The UFC won two Sports Emmy awards for outstanding production and graphic design at UFC 306, highlighted by Merab Dvalishvili‘s victory and impressive visuals.
The UFC snagged a couple of Sports Emmy awards for their standout production at UFC 306, during the annual Noche UFC event. It all went down this past September at the Sphere in Las Vegas. The night ended with Merab Dvalishvili clinching the bantamweight championship against Sean O’Malley.
Sure, the fighters were a big deal, but those jaw-dropping visuals? They totally stole the show! Thanks to that, the UFC bagged Emmys for Outstanding Studio or Production Design/Art Direction and Graphic Design – Specialty.
After the event, UFC CEO Dana White was confident they deserved an Emmy—or something big. “Listen, I talked a lot of shit for a lot of years about boxing and Showtime,” White mentioned at the post-fight press conference.
He added, “I always like to push the envelope and make it better. When new technology comes out, we try to raise the bar because I think it should be. What these guys pulled off, we should be stepping over Emmys at the office.” Quite the statement, right?
This year marked the 46th annual awards show, celebrating the crème de la crème of sports television. Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, it honors the best in media from the previous year.
