UFC Vegas 79: Bryce Mitchell’s Victory & Unusual Post-Fight Speech Draws Pro Reactions

Bryce Mitchell won his UFC Vegas 79 fight against Dan Ige, after which he announced his donation of $5,000 to help victims of recent Maui wildfires and invited Ige to join him in prayer.

Bryce Mitchell, the outspoken bantamweight, utilized his time on the mic effectively after his hard-earned win against Dan Ige at the co-main event of UFC Vegas 79, which took place on Saturday. The fight witnessed several thrilling grappling exchanges and a powerful punch from Ige that resulted in a nasty cut over Mitchell’s eye. However, it was Mitchell who triumphed in the end and secured a unanimous decision, enabling him to bounce back after his first professional loss.

In the wake of the victory, Mitchell requested Ige to stay back for the post-fight interview with Michael Bisping, a commentator. Mitchell declared that he was contributing $5,000 to assist the victims of recent wildfires in Maui, which is Ige’s homeland, Hawaii. He further invited his opponent to join him in a prayer.

Mitchell, a known conspiracy theorist, told in his own words that it was his responsibility to help Ige out. He professed, “we have to show Satan that he can’t do anything against the power of Christ when we come together.” In a humorous interlude, he doubled down on a baseless claim that the Maui fires were deliberately started, which left some of his fellow fighters amused. Others in the professional fighting community took to social media to discuss the fight and Mitchell’s post-fight remarks. A tweet from Aljamain Sterling praised Mitchell saying, “This is Bryce Mitchell! Nothing made up or fake about him.” Another fighter, Zac Pauga, noted, “Damn it’s hard to hate Bryce! His only mistake was asking permission, if you want to do something on the mic just do it!”
