The UFC Vegas 83 event is now down to 11 fights after a scheduled bout between Daniel Marcos and Carlos Vera was cancelled due to visa issues on Marcos’ side.
The upcoming UFC event has been trimmed down to 11 fights. This Saturday’s line-up has been hit by a last-minute change.
The 140-pound catchweight bout between Daniel Marcos and Carlos Vera is no longer on the cards. The fight was supposed to be part of the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 83. However, it’s been scrapped due to some visa issues from Marcos’ end. MMA Fighting confirmed this news on Tuesday, following an initial report by MMA Junkie.
The fight between Marcos and Vera was a late addition to the card. The booking only happened this past weekend.
Marcos, who holds an impressive 15-0 record, has had a perfect start to his UFC career. He’s 2-0 up, with victories over Saimon Oliveira and Davey Grant. Marcos was previously scheduled to fight on Nov. 4 at UFC Sao Paulo. However, his first opponent, Daniel Santos, pulled out of the bout. Then, replacement opponent Victor Hugo missed the weight by 2.5 pounds, leading to the cancellation of the matchup.
On the other hand, Vera was set to make his UFC debut on short notice. He’s been on a 4-0 run under the Fury FC banner. Vera recently suffered a decision loss to Brad Katona in an exhibition bout in the quarterfinals of The Ultimate Fighter 31 tournament.
UFC Vegas 83 is set to take place on Dec. 9 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The event will be headlined by a bantamweight bout between Song Yadong and Chris Gutierrez.
