Reza Madadi and Milad Zxkavakto have been banned for life from Oktagon MMA events after a backstage brawl broke out before an event on Saturday.
It’s a wrap for Reza Madadi and Milad Zxkavakto. These two have been slapped with lifetime bans from Oktagon MMA events. Why, you ask? Well, a backstage brawl broke out before the event last Saturday.
Oktagon MMA bigwigs confirmed the identities of the culprits to MMA Fighting. The initial announcement was pretty vague. It just said two coaches got banned for “assaulting” a fighter after a press conference.
The incident happened post the press conference, between Sahil Siraj’s team and Akonne Wanliss. Oktagon MMA officials spilled the beans on Twitter. “The latter was assaulted by two coaches while leaving the hall from which they were both banned earlier,” they tweeted.
Both coaches are now banned from Oktagon MMA tournaments. Forever.
Akonne Wanliss isn’t feeling too hot. The incident might mess with his performance, even though all checks show no injuries. Sahil Siraj? He wasn’t involved and couldn’t stop it. Both fighters are still in the Tipsport Gamechanger. Their bout’s been moved to OKTAGON 56 in Birmingham.
Oktagon MMA’s sorry about the whole thing. They’ve apologized to fans who were there or won’t see the match in Ostrava because of it.
Madadi’s no stranger to controversy. He had a stint in the UFC, with seven fights over five years. His last fight was in 2017, losing to Joaquim Silva by split decision. He also did 18 months for aggravated burglary charges during his UFC days.
Now, because of the backstage brawl, Madadi’s banned from all future Oktagon MMA events.
Oktagon 54 started the €1 million lightweight tournament. Makwan Amirkhani also competes for the first time since leaving the UFC after his recent contract ended.
