Wild Ezekiel Choke Finish at PFL Europe 2

At PFL Europe 2 in Brussels, Levi Batchelor achieved a rare MMA submission by using an Ezekiel choke to defeat Fahdi Khaled, a move uncommon in MMA due to the lack of gi grips.

Well, here’s something you don’t see every day.

On Saturday, PFL Europe 2 went down at ING Arena in Brussels, Belgium. In the undercard, Levi Batchelor pulled off one of the rarest submissions in MMA, submitting Fahdi Khaled with an Ezekiel choke.

Now, while this move is common in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, it’s a rarity in MMA. Why? The lack of gi grips makes it tricky. But hey, it’s not unheard of—heavyweight Aleksei Oleinik made it his signature, finishing 14 fights with it. Still, you rarely see it in lower weight classes. Guess no one told Batchelor that.

As their bantamweight bout was winding down, Batchelor had side control over Khaled, threatening an arm-triangle choke. Khaled defended, so Batchelor switched tactics—locked in the Ezekiel choke and squeezed.

Then came a confusing moment. Khaled seemed to be tapping or maybe just punching Batchelor. Batchelor released the choke. No controversy, though. When Batchelor stood up to celebrate, Khaled was clearly out cold.

Check out the unique submission below.
