Yoel Romero’s New Opponent Announced for RAF 4

Bo Nickal‘s withdrawal from RAF 4 leads to Yoel Romero facing Pat Downey instead, with the event streaming on Fox Nation on December 20.

Bo Nickal vs. Yoel Romero? Not happening—at least not yet.

Real American Freestyle announced Friday that Nickal’s out of RAF 4 for reasons unknown. Instead, Romero’s squaring off against Pat Downey. The showdown’s set for Dec. 20 at Fishers Event Center, Indiana, and you can catch it on Fox Nation.

Romero’s been on a tear, winning four straight in various promotions. “Soldier of God” kicked off this streak with a decision over Thiago Santos at PFL vs. Bellator in February 2024. Then came stoppage wins against Duane Crespo and Ras Hylton in Dirty Boxing. Most recently, he KO’d Theo Doukas at BKFC 80 in September. Impressive, right?

Now, let’s talk Downey. A 2016 D-1 All-American, he’s back on the RAF mats for the third consecutive event. Last time, he dominated Joaquin Buckley, a UFC welterweight, for a tech fall victory at RAF 3 in November. Not too shabby.
