Alex Pereira Aims to Fight Jamahal Hill, Break Ronda Rousey’s Record

Alex Pereira plans to fight former titleholder Jamahal Hill next and aims to break the record for the shortest championship turnaround, currently held by Ronda Rousey.

Alex Pereira’s got big plans for 2024. He’s itching to stay active in the ring.

Just a day after Magomed Ankalaev‘s stunning victory over Johnny Walker at UFC Vegas 84, Pereira took to social media. He had something to say. The former titleholder, Jamahal Hill, is next on his list. But don’t worry, Ankalaev. You won’t be waiting long.

Pereira’s message was clear. “People, let’s focus on what matters, which is Jamahal,” he wrote in Portuguese. His next goal? “Breaking another record and doing two title defenses in the least amount of time.”

But when will Pereira return to the ring? The UFC’s keeping mum on that. If Hill’s up next, it won’t be soon. The ex-champ’s nursing a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Ronda Rousey holds the record for the shortest championship turnaround. She KO’d Sara McMann at UFC 170, a mere 56 days after her armbar victory over Miesha Tate at UFC 168. Pereira’s got his sights set on that record.

Hill’s been out of the ring since January 2022. He beat Pereira’s teammate, Glover Teixeira, for the vacant title. The title stayed vacant for months. Then “Poatan” stepped up to challenge ex-champ Jiri Prochazka at Madison Square Garden. He won by knockout.
