Chael Sonnen Responds to Jorge Masvidal’s Fake Gangster Accusation, Claims More Felonies

Jorge Masvidal has called out Chael Sonnen for a fight, calling him a “fake-ass gangster” and a “cheating f***,” while Sonnen responded by questioning Masvidal’s intentions and stating that he felt threatened.

Chael Sonnen’s a bit puzzled. Jorge Masvidal’s called him out, even labeled him a “phony gangster.” But, Sonnen’s got a few things to say back.

Masvidal’s been vocal about wanting to fight Sonnen. He’s thrown a few choice names Sonnen’s way on The MMA Hour. Sonnen’s got a lot to say about that interview. He’s also keen to address the ‘fake gangster’ bit.

“Jorge Masvidal’s trying to paint me as a fake gangster. I’ve got more felonies than he does, that’s jailhouse talk,” Sonnen retorted on his YouTube channel. “You might not be impressed, but it means he’s the one sleeping on the bottom bunk. He’ll know what that means.”

Masvidal’s been talking about boxing now that he’s retired from MMA. He’s mentioned Nate Diaz, a former UFC opponent, and Sonnen as potential opponents.

“But I’d love to break Chael’s eye orbital,” Masvidal admitted. “He’s a cheating f***. He’s been caught with more substances in his body than any other competitor. He had six or seven different substances in his body for one title fight. You’re a f****** piece of s***. You could hurt someone just to make a paycheck? Steroids make you a super soldier. So, Chael, do all the steroids you want, it doesn’t matter. I’m still going to break your eye orbital.”

People told Sonnen that Masvidal challenged him to a fight. But when Sonnen heard what “Gamebred” said, he wasn’t sure if it was for sanctioned or non-sanctioned combat.

“I didn’t know if I was challenged or threatened,” Sonnen confessed. “If I was still a competitive fighter, I’d understand — I’ve been challenged. By a smaller guy, but still a challenge. I didn’t say you’ve got to be bigger. Street rules, I’d prefer it. But if it’s your idea, we’ll overlook that.”

“But I’m not a competitive fighter, so I felt threatened. Either way, I won’t let him get close. I can’t trust Jorge Masvidal. He’ll be in Miami next week, where I’ll be. He’ll be at UFC 299 next week, where I’ll be. Sounds like we’re starting to put pieces together. He’ll have to wave to me. I’ll have to send an usher to bring him down a few levels to where I’ll be seated. But we can have that chat.”

“I’ll be the guy in the nice trim suit with the somewhat dimmed glasses and a crowd of onlookers. I assume he’ll be the thug with a hood up that I need to keep an eye out for.”

Sonnen then questioned why Masvidal would post pictures of himself in Diaz’s home city of Stockton, Calif. Especially since someone took the photo of the inaugural “BMF” champion. To Sonnen, it means Masvidal rolled up in Stockton with a crew. Sonnen called that a “coward” move.

Sonnen didn’t take Masvidal’s visit to Stockton gym seriously. But that doesn’t mean he’ll let his guard down if he bumps into Masvidal in Miami next week.

“Am I being asked for something,” Sonnen pondered. “Am I being asked for my hand? To meet at a certain location at a certain time? I can’t imagine that I would start saying no to Masvidal now. Or am I being fake threatened? Because I know Nate wasn’t really threatened … and I know Masvidal was wearing a hoodie, the same thing he wore in his mugshot on TMZ the night he attacked Colby Covington. I’ve got to take this guy at his word.”

“So if he’s looking for me, I just ask that he say — so I can be clear — a few more words.”
