Charles Oliveira Regrets Not Defeating Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300, Promises Stronger Comeback

Charles Oliveira lost a decision to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 300, despite multiple submission attempts, and expressed his disappointment on social media, promising to come back stronger.

Charles Oliveira had a tough night at UFC 300. He tried to get Arman Tsarukyan to tap out multiple times. But, the Russian-Armenian fighter didn’t budge. The fight took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Oliveira’s not in the title picture anymore. The former lightweight champ shared his thoughts on social media. He was bummed he couldn’t get Tsarukyan to tap to his chokes. Not in any of the three rounds.

“Not every day is a day of glory,” Oliveira said. He was speaking in Portuguese. “It was a hard fight today.” He had chances to submit Tsarukyan or even knock him out. But, he couldn’t find his groove.

Oliveira had big plans. He was hoping to challenge 155-pound titleholder Islam Makhachev. Or even Conor McGregor, the Irish superstar. But, after UFC 300, he’s heading home with a loss on his record.

“I’m fine,” Oliveira assured. He’s got a few stitches over his eye and a bit of swelling. But he’s okay. He’s shed some tears. It’s part of the game. “Nothing changes. Now it’s time to just go back home and stay with my family, dedicate and train again.” He’s hoping his fans will keep cheering him on. He’s grateful for the support. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

He made a promise, though. “I will come back stronger,” he said. It’s all part of the game. He had a great camp and a successful weight cut. But, it just wasn’t his day. “It wasn’t meant to be. Thank you. I’m fine, and I’ll come back better.”

Meanwhile, Tsarukyan’s on a roll. He’s now got a four-fight winning streak under the UFC banner. He’s beaten Oliveira, Beneil Dariush, Joaquim Silva, and Damir Ismagulov. He could be up for a No. 1 contender bout next. But, he’ll have to wait for a UFC championship fight. Makhachev is set to defend his title against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 on June 1.
