UFC lightweight Diego Ferreira is looking to continue his rise up the lightweight rankings. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reports that Ferreira and Beneil Dariush have verbally agreed to fight on February 6, 2021. The venue and location for the February 6th event are to be determined. Both fighters are ranked in the top 15 of the lightweight division.

Ferreira plans to continue his winning streak. He is on a six-fight win streak and is coming off the biggest win of his career over former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. Ferreira defeated Pettis by submission via rear-naked choke at UFC 246 on January 18th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win put Ferreira in the top ten of the lightweight rankings. He is ranked ninth in the lightweight division.

Dariush will look to get into the top ten of the lightweight rankings. He is on a five-fight win streak. His last four wins were by stoppage with two knockouts and two submission victories. Dariush’s career has been up and down in the UFC. He has been a top 15 contender in the lightweight division, but unable to make the top ten. He is currently 12th in the lightweight rankings. A second win over Ferreira can push Dariush to the next level towards becoming a title contender.
