Eddie Alvarez Addresses Wife’s Infamous Screaming During Fights: Responds to Critics with Strong Language

MMA legend Eddie Alvarez supports his wife’s infamous habit of loudly cheering for him during his fights, stating that her genuine, passionate support is something he values deeply.

Eddie Alvarez, a legend in the world of MMA, makes no apologies for his wife, Jamie Alvarez. As a devoted and loving spouse, she is perhaps best known for her unmissable presence during her husband’s fights. If you’ve ever watched one of Alvarez’s matches, you likely know Jamie by her constant, impassioned cries of “EDDIE!” which have made her something of an MMA community meme, as well as led to numerous YouTube compilations.

This past weekend, Alvarez fought bare-knuckle against Chad Mendes at BKFC 41, and as always, Jamie was there to support her husband. During a Monday appearance on The MMA Hour, Alvarez was asked about his wife’s notorious cheering habits, which he defended wholeheartedly. “Listen, that’s my f****** chick, and if anybody has anything to say, they can go f*** themselves,” Alvarez said, laughing. “My wife’s been watching me fight — we met each other when we were 15 years old, we have four children together. I am her f****** guy, and if something happens to me — now you can feel her pain and feel what she’s feeling. She had my four children. She’s my f****** ride or die. She can’t control what’s going on, and her yelling, her screaming, that’s how she feels. It’s genuine. So if you don’t like it, deal with it. But it’s f****** genuine.”

This weekend’s fight was certainly one in which Jamie’s concerns were understandable, as Mendes gave Alvarez all he could handle. However, through persistence and determination, Alvarez was able to clinch a split decision win in what many have called the best fight of the weekend. Reflecting on the match, Alvarez stated, “I always think when I go in there [that] my job isn’t to win. It’s not to win. I’ve obsessed with winning my whole life and it’s not fun, obsessing about winning. So my job is to fight like a tireless champion, like a dog, and then have the fans go absolutely crazy. If I can get that out of the fans, then I won. We all won.” With Jamie Alvarez in the audience, Eddie’s goal of exciting the fans will always be achieved.
