Eddie Alvarez Discloses Injuries from Mike Perry Battle at BKFC 56

Eddie Alvarez suffered a broken orbital bone during his fight with Mike Perry at the BKFC 56 main event, leading to a TKO victory for Perry and an indefinite recovery period for Alvarez.

Eddie Alvarez is in for a recovery period. He suffered a broken orbital bone during his two-round war with Mike Perry in the BKFC 56 main event.

The former UFC lightweight champion confirmed his injuries on Monday. Initially, he speculated about a broken orbital, noting significant swelling on the left side of his face.

The fight ended after the second round. Alvarez’s head coach, Mark Henry, waved it off, and Perry claimed the TKO victory.

“Two fractures in my left orbital, one was a refracture,” Alvarez tweeted. He expressed disappointment about not being able to close out the show for the fans but remained optimistic.

His tweet read, “This game is wild and unpredictable as can be. It’s why I love it. The show goes on! Love you guys.”

Despite the outcome, Alvarez put up a good fight. He scored several huge punches on Perry throughout the opening round. He especially stood out with a slick lead jab that kept finding its mark.

The second round saw Perry come out guns blazing. He inflicted more and more damage on Alvarez, with both fighters relentlessly attacking each other until the bell sounded.

After returning to his corner, Alvarez’s coaches noticed the swelling. His eye was effectively shut, compromising his ability to continue.

This led to the stoppage, with Perry moving to 4-0 in his bare-knuckle fighting career since joining the BKFC roster. Alvarez, despite his loss, had nothing but praise for Perry.

“My hat’s off to Mike Perry,” Alvarez said at the BKFC 56 post-fight press conference. He described Perry as a battle ax who can take and give shots. He even said Perry reminded him of himself.

There’s no exact timeline for recovery from a broken orbital bone. Alvarez will need time off to allow the injury to heal before he can endure face contact again for another fight.
