Israel Adesanya Set to Headline UFC 248 With Title Defense Against Roel Romero

Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero has finally been booked. After weeks of speculation including some back and forth between the two men on social media, the UFC finally locked in a headliner for the March 7th, UFC 249 card set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Israel Adesanya’s career in the UFC has been nothing but remarkable. Adesanya become the undisputed Middleweight Champion after a victory over Robert Whittaker at UFC 243. in 2019. Adesanya is an astounding 6-0 in the UFC has only been with the promotion for under 2 years.

Following his victory over Whittaker, there was a strong link to Adesanya’s next title defense coming up against Paolo Costa. The two have had heated words for each other but Costa suffered an injury which led Adesanya and his coach to tee up the next opponent; Yoel ‘The Soldier of God’ Romero.

Yoel Romero is coming off a decision loss to Paolo Costa at UFC 241. Costa has been touted as the most dangerous man in the division. Many men would not call him out but Adesanya embraces the challenge.

“No one has asked to fight Yoel. I’ve always said I wanted baddest (expletive). So we called him out even though he’s on a two-fight losing streak”.

UFC 248 takes place on March 7th from the T-Mobile Arena. The co-main event will feature a women’s strawweight bout where  Zhang Weili will defend her title against former champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk.
