Jan Blachowicz’s Comeback Delayed Due to Second Surgery Scheduling

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz has undergone surgery on one of his injured shoulders and will require another operation, delaying his return to the octagon.

Jan Blachowicz, the ex-UFC light heavyweight champ, ain’t gonna be back in the octagon anytime soon. He spilled the beans about his health status on social media last Saturday. This comes two weeks post his announcement of stepping back from a rematch with Aleksandar Rakic. The match was originally scheduled for UFC 297 on Jan. 20.

Blachowicz’s shoulders are the troublemakers here. He needs surgery, and it seems like he’s in for a long wait. He’s already had one shoulder operated on. But, guess what? He’s got two shoulders, and both need attention.

He shared a post about it. You can check it out below.

Blachowicz’s tweet read, “First shoulder operated on. Sadly, there was too much work for one, so they couldn’t fix both at once. Another surgery soon. Gonna have to wait a bit longer to come back.”

Blachowicz is hitting 41 in two months. It’s a big question mark when he’ll be fit to fight again. His last fight was at UFC 291 this past July. It was a close call, but he lost to future champ Alex Pereira. Before that, he almost got his title back. He fought Magomed Ankalaev to a split draw at UFC 282. The title was vacant then.

As for Rakic, he’s already got a new booking. He lost his UFC 297 match with Blachowicz, but he’s fighting Jiri Prochazka at UFC 300 in Las Vegas on April 13. So, that’s something to look forward to, right?
