Jim Miller Supports Matt Brown for UFC 300, Seeks Explicit Nickname Announcement from Bruce Buffer

After his recent win at UFC Vegas 84, veteran fighter Jim Miller is eyeing UFC 300 for his next fight, potentially against fellow octagon legend Matt Brown.

Jim Miller’s got his sights set on UFC 300. A seasoned veteran, this 40-year-old fighter has already tasted victory at UFC 100 and 200. After a recent submission win over Gabriel Benitez at UFC Vegas 84, Miller’s now eyeing the April 13 event. He’s keen on a face-off with another octagon legend.

Who’s he got in mind? Paul Felder or Matt Brown. He dropped these names right after his win. But in his post-fight press conference, he seemed to lean towards another UFC record holder. This, after he extended his lead for the most wins and most fights in UFC history.

“Paul and I almost fought in 2015,” Miller reminisced about Felder. He thinks a fight with him would be brutal. “Me and him locked in a cage for 15 minutes,” he mused. But he also thinks a Matt Brown fight would be amazing.

Why’s that? Well, for one, he wouldn’t have to cut weight. Secondly, he’s got the most finishes at lightweight, while Brown’s got the most at welterweight. “That’s a fight for [UFC] 300,” he declared. He’s all for putting on a show, entertaining the crowd. He’s even willing to move up in weight for such an event. “I want to put on an epic show with two bad ass dudes who have been around for a bit,” he said, hinting that Brown might be his guy.

Brown, for his part, seems up for it. After UFC Vegas 84, he took to social media, writing, “I love Jim Miller, would be an honor.” Brown, an Ohio native, had previously revealed on The Fighter vs. The Writer that he’d approached UFC matchmakers about competing at UFC 300. His request was already under consideration. Now that Miller’s specifically called for that fight, Brown might just get his wish.

But Miller’s got another wish. He’s usually announced as “A10” in the octagon, but he’s got another nickname he’d prefer. Just before former matchmaker Joe Silva retired after the UFC sale to Endeavor in 2016, he offered Miller a fight. Miller’s response? “I’m in.” Silva’s reply? “Of course you are … you’re Jim F****** Miller.”

Miller’s not sure if Bruce Buffer will introduce him as “Jim ‘F******’ Miller.” He’s not sure if Buffer swears while working, though he knows Buffer does when he’s not. But he thinks it’d be cool. “I think doing that in front of the T-Mobile full of fans would be awesome,” he said. He believes he’s earned that nickname, both inside and outside the octagon.

After UFC 300, Miller’s not planning on retiring. He’s not setting a time limit on his career. He’d love to fight in his home state of New Jersey one more time. And he’s got another milestone in mind – not UFC 400, but 30 wins. “That would be really awesome,” he said after earning UFC win No. 26. But he’s not hung up on the numbers. He believes his legacy is more about how he’s handled the ups and downs of his career.

“When a guy like Mike Bisping is complimenting me inside the octagon, it means the world to me,” he said. For now, he’s just going to keep doing what he’s doing and decide on the next steps as they come. “Let’s just keep going for now,” he concluded.
