Joe Rogan Signs New $250 Million Deal to Remain at Spotify

Joe Rogan has signed a new multi-year deal with Spotify, reportedly worth around $250 million, to continue his No. 1 ranked podcast on the platform, but it will no longer be exclusive to Spotify and will be available on other services like Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

Joe Rogan’s got his feet firmly planted at Spotify. His top-rated podcast isn’t going anywhere.

The funnyman, also known for his UFC color commentary, has just signed a fresh multi-year contract with Spotify. The deal’s rumored to be worth a cool $250 million. But there’s a twist. His show won’t be a Spotify exclusive anymore.

Under the new terms, Rogan’s podcast will make a comeback on other platforms. We’re talking Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

The Wall Street Journal was the first to spill the beans about Rogan’s renewal with Spotify.

Back in 2020, Rogan made headlines when he decided to move his podcast to Spotify. The deal was said to be worth a whopping $200 million. Now, he’s managed to surpass that initial figure with his latest contract. Plus, he’s got the green light to broadcast his show on all major streaming services.

Rogan’s previous contract was set to run out in 2024. But now, he’s sticking around with Spotify for a few more years, thanks to the new agreement.

Spotify’s got the reins when it comes to distributing and selling ads for Rogan’s podcast. Rogan’s cut? A standard fee and a slice of the ad revenue his podcast rakes in.

Rogan’s podcast continues to be a big fish in the Spotify pond. In 2023, his show clinched the No.1 spot.

But Rogan’s journey hasn’t been all smooth sailing. He’s had his fair share of controversies. Remember when some of his old shows resurfaced, featuring him using racial slurs? Spotify ended up pulling 70 episodes from his podcast catalog. Rogan’s response? He called it a “political hit job.”

He also faced backlash for allegedly spreading misinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic. This led Spotify to slap a disclaimer at the start of some of his episodes.

Despite the hiccups, Rogan’s show remains a huge hit for Spotify. His guest list is as diverse as it gets. From Twitter owner Elon Musk to politicians like Bernie Sanders and entertainers like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Downey Jr., he’s had them all.

Rogan’s also known for featuring fighters on his podcast for MMA-specific shows. And when he’s not calling the shots during UFC broadcasts, he does “fight companion” broadcasts with friends like retired heavyweight Brendan Schaub.

As for when Rogan’s podcast will start popping up on other streaming platforms, we’re still in the dark. But with his new deal sealed, it’s likely to happen sooner rather than later.
