Khamzat Chimaev Injury Update: Wants Return at UFC 300, Urges Dana White to Make it Happen

Undefeated UFC competitor Khamzat Chimaev announced he will undergo surgery for his injured right hand, but vowed to “smash somebody” upon his return.

Khamzat Chimaev’s got a message for his future opponents. He’s going under the knife soon, but he’s not backing down.

The undefeated UFC fighter recently hopped on Instagram. He was there to answer fan questions and share some news about his injured right hand.

He won a majority decision against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 in October. Now, he’s dealing with the aftermath of that fight.

“I’m going to do surgery, [an] operation in one, two weeks,” he said. “After that [I’ll] do the recovery, come back, smash somebody,” Chimaev added (h/t MMA Crazy).

Remember UFC 279? Chimaev missed weight for a scheduled welterweight main event bout with Nate Diaz. That was in September 2022.

Instead, he ended up facing Kevin Holland at the event. He won with a first-round submission victory. “Borz” then moved up to 185 pounds.

He was supposed to face Paulo Costa. But, a nasty infection forced Costa to step aside. Usman stepped in at the last minute.

Chimaev hurt his right hand early in the bout with the former welterweight champion. Despite a dominant first round, Usman turned the tide. The fight got competitive, leaving fans with more questions than answers.

When will Chimaev return? He’s got his eyes set on UFC 300.

“Tell Dana White, make that happen,” Chimaev said. His excitement is palpable.
