On April Fool’s Day, YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI jokingly announced a boxing match against heavyweight legend George Foreman, in response to rival Jake Paul’s actual upcoming bout with Mike Tyson.
KSI, the YouTuber-turned-boxer, had a field day this April Fool’s. He’s known for his humor, and he didn’t disappoint this time around.
The day is all about pranks and jests, and the combat sports world was no exception. Jake Paul, KSI’s rival, recently made waves with his announcement. He’s set to box Mike Tyson, a heavyweight legend, on July 20. The news, which will be streamed live on Netflix, has stirred quite a controversy.
KSI, one of the critics, had a perfect April Fool’s prank up his sleeve. He announced a mock fight with another heavyweight legend, George Foreman.
“I’m back baby! Fighting 75-year-old legend and former champ. Age ain’t nothing but a number. Forman hits harder and is faster than ever before!” he tweeted.
The joke didn’t stop there. KSI’s satirical poster for the fight had it listed on “NOTflix.” The fight rules? “5-second rounds,” “150 oz gloves,” and “no punching allowed.” He also pointed out that Foreman is 75, a good 18 years older than Tyson.
While Paul’s fight is real, KSI’s next move in the boxing world is still a mystery. He recently faced his first professional loss in six fights. Tommy Fury won a close, albeit uneventful, decision against him.
The fighting world had its share of April Fool’s fun on social media. Check out some of the shenanigans below.
One tweet reported UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards missing. “Last seen 12/16/23 in the middle of T-Mobile arena surrounded by sleeping fans,” it read.
Megan Anderson, on the other hand, was not a fan of the April Fool’s posts. “April 1st. I just want this day to be over, so I can stop seeing all these stupid April Fools posts already… No one.. and I mean, no one make any fight cancellation news today, please, and thank you,” she tweeted.
