Lomachenko vs Kambosos Ring Announcer Misreads Co-Main Event Fight Result

Veteran ring announcer Daniel Hennessey made multiple errors during the Lomachenko vs. Kambosos co-main event, including incorrectly announcing the winner of the WBA bantamweight title fight and messing up the scorecards for the first televised bout.

Daniel Hennessey’s night? Not going so well.

This seasoned ring announcer, a familiar face in the Oceania region, had a bit of a slip-up. It happened at the Lomachenko vs. Kambosos co-main event on Saturday. After a grueling 10-round fight for the WBA bantamweight title, Hennessey made a blunder. The match was between challenger Cherneka Johnson and reigning champ Nina Hughes.

Guess what? Hennessey announced Hughes as the winner. Majority decision, he said. But here’s the thing – Johnson seemed to have the upper hand throughout the bout.

Cue confusion. Chaos. The crowd was baffled. The commentary booth? In disarray. This went on for a good 20 seconds.

Then, Hennessey called the fighters back to the ring’s center. Plot twist – Hughes didn’t win. Not even close.

Hennessey corrected his mistake, announcing Johnson as the new WBA bantamweight champion. The booth’s reaction? “Is this guy for real?”

You can watch the whole fiasco below.

But wait, there’s more. Hennessey messed up the scorecards for the first televised bout too. Pedro Guevara vs. Andrew Moloney. Wrong announcement. Again.

Tough night, indeed.
