Mark Coleman Breathes Independently After Rescuing Parents from House Fire, Claims to be Happiest Man in the World

UFC legend Mark Coleman is alert and breathing on his own after inhaling smoke while saving his parents from a house fire, but sadly his dog did not survive the incident.

UFC icon, Mark Coleman, is now conscious, responsive, and breathing independently. This comes after a heroic act where he saved his parents from a house fire.

The ex-UFC heavyweight champ was initially intubated and sedated. Why? Smoke inhalation. It wreaked havoc on his lungs. But now, Coleman’s awake. He’s even chatting with his family from his hospital bed in Toledo.

A video popped up on Instagram. It was posted by Coleman’s family. It showed him in his hospital bed, embracing his daughters and talking to them. The doctors had treated his lungs. That was the major worry after he was airlifted from the fire scene.

Coleman’s words? “I’m the happiest man in the world,” he said. “I swear to God I’m so lucky. My parents… they’re alive. I can’t believe it. I had to make a choice. I left my room, got to the door. It was already a nightmare. I could hardly breathe. Almost had to go outside. But I went back in. I got them. But Hammer… I couldn’t find Hammer.”

The incident brought Coleman to tears. He woke up to find his parents’ home already ablaze. He managed to rescue both his parents from the inferno. But then he went back in. He was looking for his dog, Hammer.

The sad part? Hammer didn’t make it. And Coleman, the UFC Hall of Famer, eventually succumbed to the smoke inhalation. That’s what led to his hospitalization.

A day after the hospital rush, doctors treated his lungs. They wanted to see if Coleman could breathe independently. The good news? Coleman’s awake now. He’s breathing on his own. And he’s got a positive outlook on his recovery.

Coleman’s daughters, Morgan and Kenzie, have started a GoFundMe. It’s on his behalf. The aim? To help cover medical costs as he continues to recover from this horrific ordeal.
