Mark Coleman Discharged from Hospital, Resumes Gym as House Fire Recovery Continues

UFC legend Mark Coleman has been released from the hospital and returned to the gym after a house fire nearly cost him his life, during which he rescued his parents before succumbing to smoke inhalation.

UFC legend, Mark Coleman? Yeah, he’s outta the hospital. And guess what? He’s already back in the gym, despite a house fire that almost took his life.

He posted a video on Monday, thanking his fans for their support. He’s back home now, resting up after a brief hospital readmission. Pneumonia, they said.

The UFC Hall of Famer was flown from the fire scene. He managed to save his parents from the flames before smoke inhalation got the better of him. But he’s a fighter, right? He survived and now he’s healing from his fire-related injuries.

“I’m healing up real good,” Coleman shared on Instagram. “My lungs are sore. My eyes are burnt but hey, I’m alive and well. I feel blessed. It’s in the hands of my higher power now. He wants me to move forward and that’s what I’m doing. The love and support I’ve received is overwhelming. If I had a wish, it’d be to meet each one of you, give you a big hug and say thanks in person.”

“Check in on your loved ones. Life is good. Life is what you make it. Keep negative thoughts out. Love you all so much.”

And Coleman? He’s not just out of the hospital. He’s back at the gym, coaching and training with UFC welterweight Matt Brown at his facility, the Immortal Martial Arts center in Columbus, Ohio.

Brown posted a video on Instagram. It shows Coleman back in the gym, less than a week after his brush with death in the house fire.

“I never left,” Coleman said in the video. “Well, for a second.”

In another message posted on Sunday, Coleman made a promise. He’s got plenty left in him. He’s on the road to recovery and he’s not done yet.

“I’m glad I’m still here with you all. We have more things to do,” Coleman said. “Tomorrow is not promised. Live in the moment and find peace today.”
