Michael Page Ready to Confront Colby Covington in Face-Off

UFC fighter Michael “Venom” Page has expressed his dislike for Colby Covington, criticizing his trash talk and stating that such insults have no place in combat sports.

Michael “Venom” Page isn’t exactly a fan of Colby Covington. Not even close. He made that clear on UFC DAY OFF.

Page, a recent UFC debutant, expressed his distaste for Covington’s trash talk. He was particularly bothered by Covington’s jabs at Leon Edwards‘ late father. Edwards, by the way, went on to beat Covington in a unanimous decision at UFC 296.

Page’s take? Such insults have no place in combat sports.

“I hate this guy,” Page admitted about Covington. He’s looking forward to kicking him in the face. He finds Covington fake, not a nice guy. Page was especially bothered by the personal attacks fighters are making. They’re talking about each other’s wives, moms, dads. Covington was all in. Page didn’t like that.

Page comes from a martial arts background. This isn’t how they do things. He thinks Covington is trying too hard to stay relevant. “We’re a tough sport, but we want to show we’re true sportsmen,” he said.

Page had a successful UFC debut in March at UFC 299. He defeated Kevin Holland and immediately staked his claim to more high-profile bouts. He came into UFC with a lot of buzz, having scored several viral knockouts at his former promotion, Bellator.

Conor McGregor is set to return at UFC 303 in June. Would Page like to face “The Notorious” soon?

“I’m about the competition,” Page said. He doesn’t care about scalping a name. He doesn’t need to prove himself that way. If McGregor looks good, then it could be a good, tough fight. Page is game. He wants to challenge himself.

But if McGregor doesn’t look good? There’ll be plenty of people wanting to fight him just to say they beat him. Page isn’t that type of fighter. He doesn’t really care.

Page’s next fight could be in his native England. UFC is heading to Manchester on July 27 for UFC 304. Page is eager to book a matchup in his home country. But he doesn’t think the rest of the division shares his enthusiasm.

“I feel fresh after my last fight, more than willing to go,” Page said. He thinks there is definitely a desire for him to be on that card. But who’s ready? Suddenly everyone has hamstring issues. It seems like they’re trying to find an opponent, but nobody seems to be ready.
