Mike Tyson & Jake Paul Approved for Professional Boxing Match

The upcoming July 20 boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has been sanctioned as a professional bout by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, with the fight taking place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

So, here’s the scoop. Mike Tyson and Jake Paul are about to make history.

Yep, you heard it right. MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck got the inside scoop from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. They’ve given the green light for the Tyson vs. Paul boxing match on July 20. It’s all official, and the outcome will go on their professional records.

Where’s it all going down? AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

And who broke the news first? ESPN, of course.

Now, let’s talk stats. Tyson, with a record of 50-6, 2 NC, is stepping into the ring for his 59th pro bout. Paul, on the other hand, is gearing up for his 11th professional fight.

Who’s Jake Paul, you ask? He’s a social media influencer and YouTube star. He’s been saying from the get-go that his fight with the 57-year-old Tyson would be a legit, sanctioned contest. He even took to Instagram to confirm the news.

His words? “I wasn’t joking when I said this would be a real fight,” Paul wrote. “See you in July.”

The fight’s gonna be eight two-minute rounds. They’ll be wearing 14-ounce gloves.

Tyson, for his part, seems to be taking his training seriously. He’s been posting videos of his prep for what will be his first pro fight since June 2005. He’s had a couple of exhibition bouts since retiring, the most recent one being a split draw with Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020.

In his heyday, Tyson was the knockout king of his generation. “Iron Mike” had 44 career knockouts and held multiple heavyweight titles from 1986 to 1996.

Paul? He’s on a roll with a three-fight win streak after his only loss to Tommy Fury. He’s got some big wins under his belt, including former UFC stars Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and Tyron Woodley.

Oh, and there’s more. The July 20 co-main event features Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor. It’s a rematch of their epic April 2022 fight that Taylor won by split decision. This time, Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight title is up for grabs.

Tickets for Paul vs. Tyson go on sale May 16. You can catch the event live on Netflix.
