Nevada Athletic Commission Extends Temporary Suspension of Mayra Bueno Silva & Walt Harris

UFC fighters Mayra Bueno Silva and Walt Harris‘s temporary suspensions have been extended pending outcomes from the Nevada Athletic Commission meeting regarding their failed drug tests.

UFC fighters Mayra Bueno Silva and Walt Harris are currently in a state of uncertainty as they await their full suspension sentences for recent infractions. Both fighters were on the agenda for a recent Nevada Athletic Commission meeting in relation to failed drug tests that were associated with UFC Vegas 77. At this meeting, it was determined that both Bueno Silva’s and Harris’ temporary suspensions would be extended until pending resolutions could be announced at another time in the future.

Bueno Silva openly admitted to failing her drug test earlier this week, which occurred after her second-round finish of Holly Holm in the primary event of UFC Vegas 77. It was subsequently disclosed that “Sheetara” had tested positive for ritalinic acid. This substance is a significant urinary metabolite of methylphenidate, which is more commonly recognized as Ritalin, a drug utilized in the treatment of ADHD.

In contrast, Harris made his positive drug test public ahead of his scheduled match with Josh Parisian at UFC Vegas 77 that took place in July. During the Nevada Athletic Commission meeting, it was revealed that Harris had tested positive for drostanolone. This substance is listed as banned by the United States Anti-Doping Association. Following these revelations, Bueno Silva revealed that she has been collaborating with both the UFC and USADA to determine her future within the sport.
